DRS 47501 on NatEx East Anglia Service to Lowestoft
These buses used to rule London. Never has there been a make and mode used by multiple London bus compainies like these were. This one even has the original London Transport seating still.
Volvo engined?
I love the increasing of the gearbox it is awesome like a piano
Is there something wrong with the gear box on this bus?
It's sounds a bit olympiany!
The best bits are 2:24 and 3:17
Lovely whine!
Class mate keep up the great work really helped me pick what bus I want to take from scunthorpe to grimsby
i’m getting hard over this
As I drove the Nationals for Chase for 2 years until they ceased service I can tell you that gear Change was horrendous 😂 we had a full automatic conversion done on one of the Nationals. The worst Driving Automatic I’ve ever drove lol
Miss Metrobuses :(
These buses can rev to death at 3000rpm if the driver floors the accelerator in neutral!
Is it bus 360?
Sack that driver!
This video will never get old
Swedish quality
Beautiful sound
Sounds like our old Carrus city L-buses from Finland.
Lovely bus lovely sound shamed not saved after withdrawal in 2013.
Mautu loapo RUclips video confirm greer bus Bedford owb no 4 g22248 thonk you RUclips videos omiebus Friday 25 the October 2019
2449 Has again been saved for Preservation 😮😉
Sounds great, but straight-through gearchanges. Grrrr!
Actions of a steering wheel attendant, not a driver
Used a few times as our school bus when owned by Eastern counties had all cheque material on seating used have front side seat where luggage rack went
One thing I find fascinating about these particular Leyland Olympians is that it's the exact same length body as on the Euro 2 Olympian / Alexander RL's. Very impressive for I guess then a 22-year-old bus :)!
Sounds reminiscent of an RE
Same sort of engine
I worked since 1961 for the real BartoN Transport Ltd, Chilwell Notts, right up to the dispicable trent take over in 1989 , so the right time to be with the Leyland Leopard, and before that AEC and Bedfords and older Leyland vehicles, also haulage lorrys,,,,doing running repairs/ breakdown and recovery local and distance /emergency PSV driving and overtime coach driving,,a good job and good pay good owners, and a feeling they were all Our buses,,,,Now it think what a job bus enthusiasts could only dream of this,,,,the Leopard evolved from the Leyland Tiger we only had 3 of the just before my time at Bartons ,, The late Leopards were as perfect as a bus/coach could be,,and not too complicated like the throw away rubbish of today,, I could see trouble ahead with the later Tiger but we lost one in a fire and trent flogged the last 4,,Bill Redfern badge number EE 45170,,,,,,
Bring Them Back On The 31 And 1 All of the routes in birmingham tridents are SHIT!!!!!!!
WHAT?! Arriva were running a Leyland National in 2007?!?!
Think that the same engine they use in the old Volvo F series trucks.
great video of leyland ecw olimpan blackburn
To drive one is to love one. Great old buses and I was fortunate enough to drive for a company that had 3 ex Johnsons VR's. most other drivers hated them...... sad lot. Still more VR time for Gazzy boy!
This one has a high speed back axle since it accelerates fairly slow. Sometimes they won't change into 4th gear till nearly flat so the driver takes the foot of the throttle so it will.
Doesn't sound quite as a good as the earlier national 2's, this isn't half as noisy or rattley
This one A757NNA was one of GMTs Atlanteans, originally 8757, and renumbered 4757 and was put at the Northenden depot, and moved to Stockport when it closed down.
bring those fleet back on the 529 route, they were environmentally clean smoother ride than the double deckers in service now
you'll be glad to hear that this bus is preserved and back in the wolverhampton heritage livery
they still have TOJ592S the first ever MCW metrobus built. this one sounds like its got a cummins L10 in it. seems faster than gardner engined one
This is with Nu-Venture in Kent and it has blue moqette seats and it sounds even nicer.
This is the preserved Nottingham one Adam Johnson, its the second last Leyland National to be built
I remember the 28 in metrobus days. If I was in charge of NXWM, the 28 would still be double deckers, not lumbered with tiny little single deckers!
Class 321 Silverlink to London Euston Via Northampton.
it was one of the best aslias i rode on
these never missed a beat. they just soldiered on and on. not the fastest or slowest of buses. but a hugely reliable machine. gardners you cant beat them.
Great footage! I filmed East Lancs Dart L504CPB on the X5 along the A5 / M54 around the same time but took that video down cos it was pitch black dark and couldn't see anything lol... A few months later in June 09 I went on the X5 on slightly newer Versa YJ09MKO, fare was 10p cheaper!
I'm sure one of these Leyland are now preserved on Nottingham City Transport Livery...
its voith 854 0:36 changed 4th gear 3:00 down gear from 4 to 3 and then 3:05 3 to 2
+慧能陳 should make it better on fuel economy with 4 gears. in the uk some of our volvo olympians have cummins L10's in them 3 speed voith but with a high speed diff 62mph no problem. not as fast as these but does the job
never seen a metrobus on route 120 before
i have many times
if still on the road happy 45th birthday
this has a gardner 6lx
I remember when bexleybus first started operating. Brought a splash of colour to a red and green area. Very dark on the inside cos of the orange/brown seats and the black interior panels. Altho the coach seated olympians were the best. Shame the whole operation only lasted a few years.... but having bexleybus was great for us enthusiasts
